Meaning
Pseudo-transaction objects pack authorization data, gas overhead parameters and arbitrary execution calls off-chain before submission to an alternative mempool. Through ERC-4337 user operations, account owners broadcast execution intents that bypass conventional protocol-level transaction pools entirely. The schema governs the lifecycle of programmable user actions through specialized bundlers, entry point contracts and paymaster gas sponsors.
The boundary of the mechanism ends when an aggregated batch is committed into an execution frame by an external bundler transaction on the base network.
Mempool Segregation
Conventional network transactions enter standard node mempools under uniform serialization constraints enforced by base consensus rules. Under ERC-4337 user operations, actions travel across a parallel peer-to-peer mempool designed exclusively to handle higher-level intent structures. Bundlers collect these independent operations, simulate execution outcomes locally to verify solvency, and assemble valid payloads into a single standard transaction directed to an entry point contract.
This separation isolates base validator nodes from unpredictable contract execution logic during initial mempool validation. The entry point contract verifies signatures and dispatches state updates sequentially.
Record Asymmetry
Transaction receipts preserved on-chain document the bundler as the primary transaction sender rather than the individual signing principal. This architecture creates an evidential disconnect between the user who signed an off-chain user operation and the public transaction record visible on chain explorers. Retaining proof of an individual commercial commitment requires preserving the original off-chain signed object alongside the resulting block hash.
When partners review past corporate spending, relying solely on block explorer logs obscures the identity of the initiating actor behind a shared bundler address. Resolving individual actions from aggregated bundle receipts requires dedicated forensic indexing infrastructure, increasing archival overhead.
Rejection Mechanics
An operation drops permanently from mempool circulation whenever validation logic attempts prohibited state access or exhausts gas parameters before validation terminates. Bundler simulation checks enforce strict opcode restrictions during the verification phase to prevent denial-of-service vectors. An operation referencing storage slots outside its own account boundary fails bundler ingestion checks.
Such rejections occur entirely off-chain, leaving zero transactional trace on the ledger and terminating the proposed state transition cleanly.
