Meaning
Digital record that links an external data set to a specific block on a distributed ledger through a fixed hash value. An immutable byte anchor provides a timestamped proof that a particular version of a document existed at a certain moment. It allows two parties to verify they are looking at the same information without storing the entire file on the blockchain itself.
This mechanism creates a bridge between off chain activity and on chain finality.
Verification Logic
Any change to the source file, even a single character, results in a different hash that will not match the anchor. This sensitivity makes the record a definitive defense against tampering or retroactive changes. When a founder signs a set of terms, the anchor proves those terms remained unchanged.
The process is irreversible once the block is confirmed.
Conflict Resolution
In the event of a disagreement, the anchored hash acts as the neutral source of truth. It settles disputes over which version of a document was agreed upon during a specific funding round or board meeting. The cost of maintaining this proof is minimal compared to the risk of lost or altered paper records.
Data Integrity
Accuracy is maintained through mathematical certainty, which replaces the need for human memory.
